Oct. 5, 1863 [Monday]. State of Missouri, Office of Act’g. Ass’t. Provost Marshall General, U. S. A.
Mr. Isaac M. Fisher,. Sir:
I recently received your letter of Aug. 19, it having followed me and our Rgt. right to New York, and was from there sent to me [Missouri].
I had left the Army of the Potomac 9 days before the date of that letter.
I carried his effects from [illegible] to Washington and turned them over to Adjutant (Asst) General Breck and obtained his receipt therefore then had no opportunity to express anything till I reached Washington and then I had not time as I was in a great hurry then to get home and see my poor brother who has just died. I believe that I received a letter from you since my arrival at this place and I wrote you then in full. If I can give you any information that I missed I put into this letter that you desire to know I shall be happy to give it to you at any time.
I am respectfully, your obt. Servant,
E. G. Bush, Capt. 10th U. S. Infantry
