Turn of the century view west from the foreground stone wall, business route 15 bisects the view. A mile in the distance can be seen the Lee/Virginia monument just to the left of the tree clump in the picture middle.

The Horse Soldier, a family owned and operated antique store, specializing in the American Civeil war, valued this artifact #39, 30 April 2001,at $795.00. Guernsey’s auction house, NY, NY measued it 17 1/8 x 9 7/8 inches; Signed on cover “W. J. Fisher Lt 10th Infantry USA” and again W .J. Fisher 2nd Lt. 10th Infantry USA.

These calling cards were not listed in the original Fisher Collection but were a seperate purchase, presumed to be from the Bracken Collection, by the FNMPG four years later. Value data not made available. Bush states in his 3 Sep 1863 letter, “My card was placed at the Head board on July 3rd, ’63. Asst. Surg. Ramsay USA did the writing as I had been wounded in my right hand the day before and could not then write at the time.” Because of the intense rain on the 4th, the card was removed by Pvt. Buchan and replaced with inscribed parts of a cigar box.

GETT42191 Tintype of Pvt. John Buchan & Sgt. Terrance McCabe

A (4 ¼ x 3 ¼ inches) quarter tintype in full case of Sgt. T. McCabe, on the right, and Private John Buchan of Company H who aided in taking Fisher off the field. Both are seated in full uniform and accoutrements are visible, cap box, etc. Both ware kepi’s. A lovely and clear image of two soldiers who survived the bloody fighting on July 2nd. The image is in a full case of leather over wood. Buchan made Fisher’s temporary grave marker.
